Help with face painting ideas?

Author: We’re having a little party at my school and I volunteered to help with face painting and the teacher that’s hosting the face painting is are 8th grade history teacher. So I was wondering what be cool (and easy) for face painting that deals with history? Like Ancient China or Classical Greece, you know, the works?

I’ve done face painting on several occasions and doing anything intricate is WAY too hard, even for someone who’s taken a lot of art classes.
One easy thing that has to do with history sort of are country flags, or insignias? Obviously, don’t start pulling out a nazi symbol or anything, but try to go for a "coat of arms" shape?
